Victorian & Quarry Tile
Often referred to as Minton tiles, these beautiful geometric floors are usually found in hallways. After falling out of fashion in the 1960/70’s they are now very much sought after. A high percentage of Victorian tiles I restore are often discovered by the customer when removing existing flooring to reveal these gems.
Some are in better condition than others, often carpet covered floors can cause issues with damp and efflorescence and cause underlay to leave resin marks that seep in to the tiles over time. However, restoration results can be very impressive.
Victorian hallways come in many different patterns & colours, usually the more colours the more expensive the floor would have originally been to lay, blue was a particular costly tile due to the cost of dyes in Victorian times.
We seal the hallways with either a matt finish impregnating seal or a sheen topical seal finish which offers the ‘wow’ factor. A restored hallway is the focal point of any home.
